NOMINATIONS SOUGHT FOR CITIZEN OF THE YEAR 2015

 

Brainerd Community Action is accepting nominations for the Citizen of the Year 2015 award.

 

This is an opportunity to recognize someone who has volunteered time for the betterment of the Brainerd Lakes Area.

 

Letters of nomination may include the nominee’s occupation, details of volunteer work and length of service, office held in organizations, impact of the nominee’s contributions to the lakes area and letters of support from organizations that have benefited from their services.

 

 

The award criteria include the following: The award is to be given to a living person, the nominee volunteered services that are above and beyond normal employment or business pursuits, the services performed contributed to the welfare of the community and the services were performed for an extended period of time.

 

The selection committee will consist of: past citizens of the year, Brainerd Lakes Area Chambers of Commerce representative, Crow Wing County Volunteer Coordinator, representatives from a financial institution, clergy, business owners, labor, Community Action Board members, and the executive director of Brainerd Community Action.

DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARDS

The Brainerd Jaycees and Community Action are accepting nominations for the following Distinguished Service Awards:

Citizen of the Year

Outstanding Youth Volunteer of the Year

Outstanding Non-Profit of the Year - 2 categories - Small - budget up to $750,00

                                                                                        Large - over $750,000

Outstanding Community Service Provider of the Year-Category includes Police, Fire, EMTs etc.

Outstanding Agri-Business of the Year

 

Criteria for Citizen of the Year, Outstanding Youth Volunteer of the Year, and Outstanding Community Service Provider Year are as follows:

Non-profit of the year criteria is as follows:

Typical characteristics of a successful non-profit include pro-active Board of Directors, dedicated staff, and unwavering support from community partners. In order to recognize the stand out non-profits with these characteristics, this impressive award is presented to three nonprofits that display amazing leadership, integrity, and management skills required for the operation of a successful business. Nominations for the Non-Profit of the Year:

·       Awarded to Small and Large nonprofits

·       Demonstration of a positive impact on the region/improve overall quality of life for the community

·       Demonstration of Community-Nonprofit Partnership

·       Active involvement by director, staff, board members, volunteers, constituents, and other stakeholders in delivering excellent service/product

·       Effective fundraising and resource development

·        Solid Financial management

·       Unique use of financial resources to strengthen organization

·       Effective use of Social Media (Facebook, Twitter) and IT for communication of product/services
